Sail On
05:52
|

I don't call this town my baby
cause I believe it won't save me
you've just been sleepin' in the dirt
not giving any worth
i'm not slicing through the ice
I'm just putting out those fires
There's no soul, there's no drive
so how can you say you thrive, just to taste the wine.
well I've put in my time. I've held in my words.
and i've carried my so called curse
just to keep this boat afloat, just to keep this boat afloat
so sail on
sail on
let the bad blood cool down a bit, enough to go around make everyone sick
just like a fever, combing through the desert
the good hearts, they come so rare, so I'll search till I find a tare
till it's stripped to the bare, cause I can't coincide with people here
so sail on
Just keep digging on through the dirt
just keep puttin' in your work
we'll always be on some kind of search
that's just the gloom of the desert
so we can just sail on, get along,
we can just sail on, get along.

Baby Baby
04:29
|
|||
those eyes, they've got me high
damn the endeavor to make you mine.
when you stand there, under the porch light
I bite my tongue, because darling you are out of sight
and they told I shouldn't take a step towards you
and they told that I should of never slept in the bed with you
but those were the things that I couldn't do
till I learned that your blood really does run blue.
you're just a liar, then you let out some desire
and I fall right back into the fire.
driving around town, wasting gas in the truck.
windows rolled down, and the music turned up.
oh, you've got some evil ways
and you just keep wasting my days
you're all kinds of messed up.
oh darlin'

Sand Surfing
05:57
|
|||
There's a little weight on the shoulders
but it's possible to lift the heavy boulders
in time, we get a little bolder
in time, we get a little colder
so raise your arms, raise a glass
give a praise for your page filling past.
we've kept clear heads through the dark and dusty nights.
give a little thanks for that, were doing just fine.
I do what I do to break bread, keep a roof over my well fed head.
you're more than welcome to come and sleep in my bed.
let's feel alive girl, were far from being dead.
no need to dwell on the previous days,
just keep your swing and remember to color your gray
were steady in the desert getting by,
no need to worry if were just wasting our time
am I just roaming around aimlessly
or is there an edge to this plate?
I'm taking it easy, taking every peeled chance.
I swear I'm not vagrant but I'm surfing in the sand.

Go Ask The Mountains
05:18
|
|||
I've hit many crossroads in my days,
still I ramble away the right way, the way I was raised.
my father he taught me many things, so I was prepared for what the Lord and the Devil would bring.
Holes in the soles of my shoes, Holes in the soul from my blues.
The good Lord, has put me at test.
But this desert hasn't dried me up yet.
go ask the mountains. go ask the mountains they'll tell you.
They've seen it all, they've seen me fall.
still I don't let my troubles grab a hold of me.
the Devil is around I've seen him walk this ground.
still I wont let him grab a hold of me.
The desert it howls at the moon, as it glows over the weeds and the dirt.
oh what these mountains they subsume,
as they've watched our history bloom, bloom, bloom
God is nowhere near a phantom,
so I will forever thank him for the moonshine.
